I went to the VIP pet clinic located in Per Supplies Plus in Oak Lawn. I have been there before but it has been a few years. After speaking with the associate about what services I needed for my shih tzu's I handed my dog over. While trying to care for her he had no idea how to hold her. He had her by the neck and upper chest and she was yelping. I asked if he knew how to hold a dog and was met with someone else there being crazy rude. I took my dog from him and left without any services. I will never go back again.
Horrible experience!! First of all all i wanted was annual rabies shot and yearly basic shots. I explained this to the girl at check in and went over the ones i wanted..i had a coupon for free rabies shots. I also needed heartgaurd..both of my dogs are old girls and both have heartworms. I had moved to this area just a year ago. I almost drove the four hours to my old vet but decided against it and still regret not doing so. When we were checking out i found out they gave them ALL the vaccines including ones i did not ask for!! I was told i really had no choice..cost 200 more than i was expecting..and to top it off the next day the lab results came back that both of my dogs are negative for heartworms..NOT TRUE!! How many other owners are given false information? Did they even run the tests? I think not..plus try to call and no one answers!! Also now one of my dogs has a horrible rash!!!
We received an email coupon indicating VIP Petcare is now doing nail trims, which has been unavailable during COVID. So we took our dog to one of the local pop up clinics to have this service performed. After checking in and waiting 45 minutes, we were told (with no apology) that they did not perform nail trims at that location due to the location having its own grooming business. When I responded that VIP had wasted our time, the tech told us it was our fault because we didn't tell her that we were there for a nail trim. Note she wasn't asking anyone what service they needed during check in. It was only after I reiterated that VIP had wasted our time that we were offered an apology. Extremely disappointing customer service. Recommend having low expectations if you take your pets to VIP.
Do NOT bring your dogs/puppies here!! RUN!! I went here took my perfectly healthy puppy to get MICROCHIPPED he died the next day. He was healthy 2 days prior to he had a certificate of health vets said he was hyper and healthy! I’ll make sure I write on every platform and take it to court
I took my cat in for a 3 yr rabies shot on Feb. 28th. He has been acting strange since the shot. Lethargic, hiding, not eating well. He is so hard to catch, I would have trouble finding him. I know something is wrong and I hope this will not be a fatal occurrence. I am a retired senior, hoping to save on a VET bill, in addition to a shot. I am so worried about him, and if he will pull out of this. If I can't catch him, I can't get him to my own personal vet. I know something is wrong. I hope he doesn't die on me. My husband would be devastated and so would I. I cannot afford these high VET bills anymore.
They aren't bad if you know exactly what you are going for, like annual vaccines or simple things, I can't comment on internal issues because they aren't an actual vet office. However, they are very much like care salesmen when it comes to their "packages". They will stress this and that they think you should get just to be sure, I understand from a health standpoint, but they try and add on this and that to the packages. I went in for just a rabies vaccine and 5-1, would have only cost me around $50. Walked out paying over $200 because they smooth talk you into this and that. They nitpicked the flea treatment I've been using for years, blaming it for the reason my dog had gotten lyme disease in the past(ignoring that my dog actually had the lyme vaccine at the same time, it can't protect against all strains of lymes neither can flea&tick), stressing oh no your dog probably has it now!! Instead of heart worm treat get the flea! Not to mention they asked to do a nail trim, despite me saying my dog would do much better at home, didn't even say it would cost anything and afterwards come to find out it was $25. I can do it for free at home, would have definitely said no if I'd known the price or they were going to charge me!! That being said, maybe each person is different but definitely go in there with a clear mind of exactly what your dog will need and not what they suggest this and that ect. I will say it's very nice with no office charge like usual vets.
This people kill my dog!!! I went for a rabies vaccine Sunday February 14 and yesterday the 15th at night my doggie had diarrhea and he was very agitated all night, he didn’t sleep, he couldn’t lay down. This morning I took him to the vet and he die in my arms. The vet told me that more likely was the vaccine. That’s the only thing different that I did with my dog, before that he was playful and no problems. Vip petcare called me from corporate office offering an autopsy but I don’t want my dog to be chop off just to tell what I already know, the vaccine kill my dog. We are devastated, my 7yo girl can’t stop crying and asking why did we put that vaccine on him. The doctor who did it on Sunday was very rude and I’m questioning now if he probably didn’t put it right. Nothing is going to bring my doggie back but please don’t take your dog to this place at pet supermarket. Who knows what brand of vaccine they use, they don’t disclose anything. :(
Our one year old, perfectly healthy English Bulldog died on February 29,2020 while receiving a simple one year booster vaccine at VIP Pet Care. A veterinary technician applied so much pressure to him, turned him on his side, and while we pleaded with them to turn him over and lessen their weight on him, our beautiful dog seized and became unresponsive. At that time the veterinarian frantically tried to revive him BUT not a single technician knew how to administer oxygen or intubate him. He was carried lifeless to our car where we instructed to drive him 10 minutes to an emergency veterinarian. He had already died and nothing could be done. Our 5 year old (and numerous patrons witnessed this tragedy). Since then, we received a written promise that his Autopsy and cremation would be covered in full by this company. It is almost 5 months later and VIP Pet Care has not paid any of the expenses. They have offered our family NOTHING. The autopsy shows our dog had no prior conditions that would have contributed to his violent death. I cannot put into words what our family has been through. VIP pet care will not respond to our emails/calls/messages or to the emails and calls from the Animal Hospital who cremated our dog and performed the autopsy/necropsy. This company has traumatized us, especially our 5 year old who watched his best friend die, crushed under the weight of untrained, inexperienced veterinary techs.
